Monaro Dead, but GTO will Live On

Australian automaker Holden has announced that production of the Manaro will end, and in turn so will the current rebadged Pontiac GTO. Since the new GTO’s introduction in 2003, just over 40,000 units have been shipped, a mere blip on the sales chart for General Motors. While fundamentally the Holden built GTO lived up to its muscle car heritage, bland styling contributed to a serious lack of “gotta have it” appeal. While this is the end of the current version, General Motors has promised that there will be another GTO, one that “will fulfill the promise of the current car”.
