BMW Alpina B7 Headed for Canada

BMW Canada announced today that a specially-prepared, ultra high-performance version of the BMW 7 Series, developed in cooperation with the Alpina Group, will be imported into Canada later this year. The BMW Alpina B7 will make its North American premiere at the Canadian International Auto Show taking place in Toronto from February 17 through 26.
The BMW Alpina B7 is based on the 2006 BMW 7 Series with Valvetronic 4.4 litre V8 engine equipped with a Nautilus-type Supercharger and air-to-air intercooler, producing an incredible 500 horsepower @ 5,500 rpm and 516 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm (European specification). Matching this magnificent engine to a ZF 6-Speed transmission, the BMW Alpina B7 provides outstanding performance, reaching 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Additional Alpina performance enhancements include 21†Alpina Classic alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires – 245/35 ZR21 at the front and 285/30ZR21 at the rear, larger diameter brakes, and an Alpina aerodynamic package resulting in a coefficient of drag of only 0.31, providing additional high-speed stability.
Distinctive Alpina styling cues, such as large circular instruments finished in traditional Alpina blue with red pointers, an Alpina sport steering wheel with SWITCH-TRONIC shift buttons and a sequentially-numbered production plaque complement this exclusive Alpina version.
Renowned in the world of high performance and motorsports for their engineering prowess and professional execution, Alpina, based near Munich in Buchloe, Germany, has been affiliated with numerous “special†BMW models for some years and the only European “tuner†company to be fully endorsed by BMW to develop specially modified BMW production vehicles. All BMW Alpina models are built on BMW production lines using Alpina developed modifications.
Since the majority of Alpina products rarely reach North American soil, this limited-edition model, the BMW Alpina B7 will have unquestionable appeal to Luxury Performance Sedan enthusiasts. Occupying the very specific ultra-performance niche within the stable of 7 Series models, the BMW Alpina B7 is an ideal sporting complement to the magnificent V8-powered 750i and 750Li and superlative V12 powered 760Li, still the ultimate premium luxury sedan. The BMW Alpina B7 joins the most successful 7 Series lineup in BMW history, with current 7 Series sales up 71 percent to date in Canada over the venerable predecessor.
Detailed Pricing and availability information regarding the BMW Alpina B7 will be released closer to market launch later in 2006.
