After years of work, and $250,000 US spent, an engineer named Ron Patrick is the proud owner of a jet-powered VW Beetle. He built the car himself after apparently being bored with the status of custom hot-rodding in North America. The silver bug is surprisingly street legal in California, and even passes the state’s strict emission standards. The car retains its traditional engine for cruising around town, while a Navy surplus General Electric T58-8F jet engine has been jammed into the back hatchback.
