Prodrive to Enter F1 in 2008

The British motorsports company Prodrive was selected on the 28th of April to be the 12th competing team in F1 for the 2008 season. Prodrive is most well known for its preparation of the Subaru World Rally cars, but they are also now trying to expand their focus with this entry in F1 as well as their attempts at Prodrive cars based on Subaru drive trains like the P1 and P2.

Prodrive was selected from a pool of 11 potential teams to fill the 12th entry position, based on their experience in motorsports as well as their solid financial backing, which will allow them to be competitive in the world of F1 racing. The FIA president Max Mosely said that he was very impressed with the number of potential teams that were interested in F1, but that of them, Prodrive was the best choice and that they were even more attractive due to their chief executive, David Richards, previous involvement with F1.
