Porsche Designs 7-Speed DSG Gear Box
Autoweek is reporting that Porsche has filed documents in Germany to apply for a patent on a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The talk is that the company plans to offer the new double-clutch gearbox across its entire product line, from the Boxster to the Carrera GT-based mid-engined GT1 race car. Porsche originally planned to have the system ready for the launch of the 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo (model 997), but by missing that deadline the Tiptronic S will remain the only optional transmission this year.
