Audi A4 2.0T Gets Power Boost to 220 hp

Audi A4 2.0t engine upgrade

Though it was never sold in North America, Audi produced and sold a few hundred A4 DTM Edition sedans, which honoured the brand’s victory in the DTM touring car racing series in Germany. Aside from the fancy aerodynamic bodykit, sports suspension, and big wheels and tires, the engine 2.0T FSI engine got a bit of a power boost. It was set apart from the standard A4 2.0T, as it offered 220 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Great, if you live in mainland Europe, not so great if you live across the Atlantic.

Audi recognized that with a growing number of ordinary Volkswagens obtaining this engine, it would be wise to jack up the boost on the turbo for all A4s. So, starting 2007 (in Europe, this year), the A4 2.0T will get the DTM edition’s more powerful motor. The extra power doesn’t seem to do much though; according to the figures Audi released, the 0-100 km/h time of the more powerful car is identical to that of the current model: 7.1 seconds, with the front wheel drive, 6-speed manual model. The new car also features drilled front discs, matte-black tailpipes, and will be available in the Avant wagon bodystyle, in case you were wondering.
