Production of Saturn Aura Green Line (Hybrid) Underway

Someone at General Motors is eager about going ahead with the Aura, as the Kansas City Star reported that early preproduction prototypes of the Aura Green Line Hybrid would come off the Fairfax, Kansas assembly sometime this week. That means that the Aura hybrid would be jumping the gun on the Malibu Hybrid which has been under development for quite some time now.
The Green Line will be a mild hybrid, which means that it won’t be able to run on electricity alone. That said, it’ll fit perfectly into Saturn’s affordable Green Line range which also consists of the VUE Green Line, which is also a mild hybrid. Though the system returns less by the way of fuel consumption benefits, it’ll be easier for consumers to buy as there’s less of a sticker shock. ETA for the green Aura is mid 2007.
