Yeah, It’s a Turbine… Jay Leno’s New EcoJet Concept

EcoJet GM Jay Leno

I really wish I was in Jay Leno’s shoes, not only is the man famous and rich, but he loves cars. On several occasions I’ve seen what’s in his warehouses; that tank-powered car, various concepts, and classics, plus almost everything on four (and two wheels) that a car enthusiast could ever want. But when you’re Jay, you can go beyond just buying cars; you can have companies build ‘em for you. Even if that company is General Motors.

Leno’s latest is a one-off concept car built by GM called the EcoJet. From sketches that were submitted on napkins, GM turned the original design into a real working automobile at its design studios in California. But the really awesome bit is that the EcoJet is powered by a Honeywell Turbofan motor that runs on biodiesel. How awesome is that? The outside shell is made from Kevlar, and it’s all built atop a Corvette chassis, but who cares when it’s powered by a jet engine?
