Hotter Audi TT On The Way

One by one, Audi is knocking off the list of things that the TT needs. First, it was the driving experience - namely the ride quality, and the original car’s indifference to corners - which was fixed with the freshly launched 2007 car. Then came the convertible, which provided the necessary open-air factor which all sports car should have. And now the issue of power. Here’s a shot at an ultra-high performance model, slated to be called the TT-RS.
So, what about this TT-RS? Well, from what we understand, it’s powered by a 2.5-litre inline-five, derived from Audi’s personal bullpen, Lamborghini (rather than the 2.5 that’s in the Jetta, despite the claimed shared roots). With two blowers cramming pressure down the five’s throat, expect in the neighborhood of 350 horsepower, driven through all four wheels either by DSG or 6-speed manny tranny. That’ll give Benz, BMW and Porsche something to put in their pipe and smoke.
