Chrysler Contemplates Canning Pacifica

Despite being one of the most satisfying Chrysler vehicles to own, the end of the road is quickly approaching for Chrysler’s Pacifica. Insiders have revealed that Chrysler has just ordered development to stop on the car’s successor, codenamed TC. Detroit Free Press spoke to several suppliers who stated that they were told by Chrysler to stop working on the project.
When the Pacifica was launched, it was well ahead of its time, beating out late-comers to the crossover segment. Its car-based platform borrowed engineering tips and hints from German counterpart Mercedes-Benz, which made it reassuring to drive. The fact that it combined the best of the SUV and minivan worlds with all wheel drive, seating for up to seven, and a sleek look should have been a hit. But for many, it was too pricey, preventing it from really catching on.
Earlier this year, Chrysler updated the crossover (pictured) with a Crossfire-esque hood and slightly restyled headlights and grille. Under the hood, upper-model Pacificas get a 250-horsepower, 4.0L V6 with a six-speed automatic gearbox. Other improvements include a reverse camera, easy-access seating, and a standard lineup of airbags and stability control.
