VW Eos Convertible With Sunroof Wins “2006 Best of What’s New” Award

The Volkswagen EOS is a marvel of technology. It can be had with a direct-injection 2.0-litre gasoline engine that spits out 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. It can also be had with Volkswagen’s DSG gearbox, which has not one, but two clutches so it can change gears quicker and smoother than just about anything else on the market. But you can get that on everything from a GTI, to an Audi TT. The fuss about the Eos is that it’s got a folding hardtop convertible roof WITH a sunroof in it - the only car in the world to have that.
This is the kind of thinking that will win the “Best of What’s New” award from Popular Science, which the Eos did. Mark Jannot, editor of Popular Science says, “These awards honor innovations that not only influence the way we live today, but that change the way we think about the future.”
Looks like folding hardtop roofs with sunroofs built in is indeed indicative of the future.
