The Iron Hybrid: BYD F3e

BYD F3e

There is something more important about this average looking sedan than the fact that it’s a near carbon-copy of a Toyota Corolla. The BYD F3e is a pure electric vehicle that’s got a special type of battery that uses iron. For a little while, I was looking at the name, thinking F3e was some kind of play on the atomic name for iron (Fe), but it isn’t. It’s just an electric “F3″. BYD, who makes batteries aside from cars, claims that these new batteries can be charged to 70-percent of their capacity in just ten minutes. That’s good to know, given BYD hasn’t said anything about how far the car will go on a single charge.
