Meyers Manx Dune Buggy, Part 2
After a hiatus of over three decades, Bruce Meyers is having another go at producing inexpensive and insanely fun dune buggy kits. In keeping with the recent retro fad favoured by most car builders, both the Meyers Manxter 2+2 and the Meyers Manxter Dualsport (pictured below) are reminiscent of the original fiberglass Meyers Manx.

The Manxter 2+2 is the family sedan version of the dune buggy, with room for four and a roll cage that covers all passengers. The Dualsport gains a bit of height on the 2+2 and is far more off-road capable, much like the original Manx that made the record-setting traverse of the Baja Peninsula in 1967.
Like the original Manx, the new Meyers offerings are designed to be built directly on a VW Beetle floorpan, including the entire driveline. With a sub-850 kg weight, even a wheezy old air-cooled four-banger should be sufficient motivation. However, knowing that if some horsepower is good then more is better, a prototype Manxter 2+2 built with a turbocharged four-cylinder from a Subaru WRX STi achieved 100 km/h in about five seconds.
