Spicy Sentra SE-R Debuts at LA
Wednesday, November 29th, 2006
No offence Nissan, but despite the junior 350 looks of the Sentra, it’s a rather flaccid automobile. Low on power, low on pizzazz and not that great to drive. Thanks, though, for releasing the performance version, which not only looks bad-ass with its 17-inch wheels, lowered suspension and stealthy bodywork, but drive bad-ass to boot.
The SE-R range is divided between regular and Spec-V models, the difference between the two being the gearbox and engine output. The Spec-V’s got a six-speed manual transmission and the full 200 horsepower and 180 ln-ft of torque, while the regular SE-R makes-do with a CVT gearbox and 177 horsepower. It does have paddles behind the wheel, so that’s kinda cool. There’s also an LSD as standard, ’cause feeding that kinda power through the front wheels isn’t easy. The interior is boy-racery with red stitching, red seatbelts and a G-Meter to boot.
