H&R Porsche 911 turbo

Here’s the problem about setting a speed record for a production car: someone out there will always want to be faster than you. Bugatti did it with the Veyron (which, by the way is electronically limited to 400 km/h), but now, H&R wants to go after the title with something it calls Mission 400 Plus.

Suspension-component maker, H&R, famed for their springs and dampers has teamed up with Porsche tuner R-S to come up with a 911 that will top the ultra-complicated Bugatti. To make the 911 capable of attaining such speeds, the roof of the car has been chopped down by 75 mm and, more steeply angled by 5.5 degrees. As for the engine, it’s now bigger at 3.8-litres, and has turbos, that at 1.5 bar, make 1,040 hp and 760 lb-ft of torque. Oh, and it meets Euro4 emissions regulations. How cool is that?

The car will hit the Nardo race track sometime next year to set the record.
