Austrian Bike-Maker KTM Gives Cars a Try

Despite the trend that most cars are getting longer, taller and heavier, there are still a handful of manufacturers that believe light and frills-free is the way to go for performance. Caterham, Westfield and Lotus are just three of the bigger names in this industry. Austrian motorcycle maker KTM wants to get in on the party, and in the process, will be making its first car.
The yet to be named vehicle is said to be under development with Dallara, and will be powered by a tuned version of Volkswagen’s 2.0T FSI engine, making 250 horsepower. A couple of questions are still in the air, such as who the car will be built by (will it be KTM, or will it be Magna Steyr?), and where will the cars be sold and serviced (at KTM dealerships, or by Volkswagen?). One thing that’s probably certain is the car should make its debut at Geneva next year.
