Hummer Planning a New Truck
Thursday, November 9th, 2006
According to Automotive News, Hummer is reportedly working on building a “new Hummer Truck”. What we don’t quite know is whether or not the truck will be a brand new model, or something based off off the midsize H3. We’re likely to think the latter, for a couple of reasons: the H3 itself is based off a modified version of the Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon platform, plus the H3 originally made its concept car debut as a pickup truck (remember the H3T, pictured here?)
Though the new truck will have “unparalleled off-road capabilities”, according to Hummer’s general Manager, Martin Walsh, we’ll have to see. As with the H3, Hummer realized that being the ultimate in off-roadability doesn’t matter so much when your target audience doesn’t really want to get down and dirty. But given the fact that so many love the H3’s junior-Humvee appearance, whatever truck comes our way should be a reasonable hit.
