Summer of 69 is Canada’s Favourite Driving Song?
Wednesday, August 9th, 2006Is The Summer of ‘69 really the greatest driving song? Well according to a poll done by Pontiac for their Rhythm of the Road event, the Bryan Adam’s hit topped the list for both English and French speaking Canadians. While I have to agree it’s a pretty good song to listen to while cruising down the highway, I would have liked to see a bit broader spectrum of songs on the list. People who were polled were asked to choose from a pre-selected list, which was put together by a group of music journalists. I’m not sure what demographic Pontiac was aiming for, but there isn’t a song on the list that was written any time past 1985. If the target market for the Pontiac G5 were given free reign to pick any song out there, I’d imagine more current hits like Ridin’ Dirty by Chamillionaire or Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake would have made up the list.
