dp1 prototype

For all of you who think you’re pretty handy in the garage, check this out. Dennis Palatov spent four and a half years designing and building an all-wheel-drive track-only scream machine called the Random Research dp1. Now, Dennis is an engineer, but the time, money, and passion required to see a project like this through is remarkable. Testing of the dp1 prototype is currently underway, and for those of you with $125,000 US burning a hole in your Dockers, the production version of the dp1 will be available shortly.

As mentioned, the dp1 will be strictly for track use, as it has no semblance of street legality. Also, it has no roof. Or doors. Or windshield. It will have, however, the ability to freeze your face in a perma-grin, with a V-8 (fashioned by mating two Suzuki Hayabusa engines) producing an estimated 375 hp, and a proposed weight of a scant 386 kg. That’s almost Corvette power in a package weighing slightly less than a pre-Jenny Craig Kirstie Alley. The acceleration, handling and braking should be impressive. Check out www.dpcars.net for more on the dp1 and Dennis Palatov’s other toys.
